I'm from Argentina and even though people don't overwork like they do in Japan, I've always hated the 9-5 life. I mean, spending most of your time doing a job you and talking to people you don't really like? No, thank you. Nowadays, I'm a freelance teacher and translator and I'm happer than ever just working 4-5 hours a day from Monday to Friday. Do I have a luxurious life? Ofc not, but I can at least cover my expenses and save a little to treat myself here and there.

Makes me emotional and wishing my family dynamics were better because I don't even speak to my mom or older brother because they aren't healthy relationships and barely maintain the relationship with my sister because she is really difficult for me to deal with. Only really have an ok relationship with my younger brother and that's in part because we live together. Otherwise he'd be more distant because he's not the best communicator.

I only ate it once since I was in Fukuoka and could go to honten... but I wondered if I was just picking the wrong settings for ichiran. Like... maybe you have to really like their red sauce and pick some other settings properly. I dunno. To me it was like a 4/10 with very high prices. One of the worst ramen I ever ate from a dedicated ramen shop and so definitely worst cost performance. But again, they let you customize so many variables and I've wondered if I just picked the wrong stuff. But it's too expensive to experiment when just going into some random shop and getting "normal" everything is better.

Hey Shun San, last time I was in Tokyo I got a girls number from a clothing store who invited me to a party. After the party she asked me to catch a cab with her as she was going back home. Yeah I agree with the other people about raising your hands to get waitress' attention. This is considered fine where I am from in the states as long as you you don't combine that with yelling, snapping or aggressive pointing. I think that person might have been personally uncomfortable with it.

I'm already exhaused as expat in the Netherlands where we work 9 hours instead of 8 because of unpaid breaks, this one hour every day adds up, I can never quite do everything I want on any set day. If 11 hours is just normal in Japan then it's soul crushing, I had a busy periods were I were working 10-12 for weeks and it was the worst, you can at best eat something and take a shower before having to go to sleep, forget any kind of life or hobbies. This often came in tandem with working Saturdays as well so you don't even get to rest on the weekend. I was hoping years ago that with the advances in technology we will gradually start to work less, but the opposite seems to be true. Maybe we were born too early, or maybe it will never change.
